JPI Community Edition
I silently sent out the basic build behind a JPI Community Edition (you know, another one of those "free to play" games) here recently.
Generally speaking, we're putting forward a slight change in how we were going about this particular project. Meaning that, well, it's a fun idea, why not share? So, let's see ...
- Includes scripts and some tutorials on how to make new weapons
- Content and how to make maps and other TGE basics
- And, erm, whatever else sounds cool there.
So, sometime "soon", we'll be updating an official release with a "Community Edition" and some content on the site.
Best,
-Eric

The Jet Plane Invasion multiplayer demo code has passed the last test and as we assemble how best to release the multiplayer code, we'd like to get a little feedback from you. So, we're asking that you give us your email address and answer the content question.
We were planning on shipping a purple lit zone with arches everywhere, but Eric said that he wasn't sure you wanted to see so much purple. Now that he's busy wrapped up doing whatever it is fearless leader does, we have a chance to sneak in one last question. Thanks!
September Producer Letter
The serious update to JPI is coming along at full throttle and we wanted to take a moment to thank everyone for filling out the survey forms and providing some simply terrific ideas in how to make JPI a fun and unique gameplay experience.
We obviously missed releasing a content update for September 1st. We felt that it was far more important to listen to what people had to say about the game and work on that than some random ideas we thought might work. So, yes, the limited demo content pack was put on hold so we can get multiplayer working. Thanks for understanding :)
Overall, this holiday season, we're looking to provide a compelling Jet Plane Invasion experience that includes multiplayer action, more depth to the mystical world of Jet Plane Invasion, along with compelling visuals. Of course, there's the music.
Music has been since the inception a very critical piece for what makes JPI work. To this end, we've worked with the very best composers and audio techs available on the market to produce not just a few random moments of audio glory, but a compelling audio experience that is an end of itself as well as a supportive element for the game.
Combine our obsession with music with outstanding artistic elements just not seen before in an indie game, and I think we just might be able to gather enough attention to warrant someone into helping us port the title to a console system and, if I continue the dream, maybe get Cartoon Network to let us pitch a show. If you're that person, I'll be in Austin GDC next week. Talk then? I'll buy the drinks. ;-)
A Wii port combined with a Cartoon Network premier would be tremendous fun for these characters and would be the glove that fit the hand-- no chewbacca defense required. We're fighters at the Studio, though, so even if we can't get on CN this year, there's always youtube.
Sincerely,
Eric Rhea

Character Bio: Blitz
It comes to a shock to some, that Blitz is a “she.” The exterior of this jet plane isn’t full of curves, but rather boxy. But that is a sign of a true fighter jet. And Blitz sure falls into that category. She is the target of some teasing from the male planes, but she never backs down. She has nerves of steel and won’t let any other plane on the tarmac get to her. The other female planes admire her as she is in a league that mostly made up of a bunch of guys. But keep an eye on her during competitions, as she has remarkable speed and agility.
Character Bio: Dreadnought
Dreadnought is a fierce fighting jet. He tries to live up to his name, which refers to a heavily armed battleship. He doesn’t show much emotion during a race, but he takes the races very seriously. He pulls out all the punches to win a race. He is the king of stare-downs; the intimidator of the jet planes. Dreadnought wants his competitors to be in the dark when dealing with him. They never know what he’s thinking. He’s just as mysterious as his paint job which is all black. He’s not a bully, but he’s not friendly, either.
